DOG NEWS,  APPARENTLY

There’s a lot happening in the dog world. And we don’t just mean dogs doing impressive things on the internet.

The way we live with dogs is changing, and increasingly they seem to be finding their way into places that were once very firmly human territory. They’re travelling for work, influencing where we live and how we spend our time, and appearing in collaborations with brands that, not very long ago, probably wouldn’t have imagined making anything for a dog.

So, here are a few things that have caught our attention recently that we thought we’d share with you.

JO MALONE HAS GONE TO THE DOGS

Jo Malone London has entered the dog grooming world, teaming up with British pet-care brand WildWash on an Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo.

It’s £18, naturally fragranced with orange and cedarwood essential oils, and comes in four illustrated bottles featuring different breeds.

THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE TENNIS ENTOURAGE? THE DOG.

More professional tennis players are travelling the tour with their dogs, with players including Jessica Pegula and Marta Kostyuk talking about the comfort and stability they bring to a life spent moving between airports, hotels and tournaments.

And tournaments are starting to adapt. This year’s French Open went as far as providing dog walkers, sitters and pet accreditation. Wimbledon, meanwhile, maintained its no-dogs policy, prompting Aryna Sabalenka to publicly ask them to reconsider.

It feels like part of something much bigger: dogs aren’t simply waiting for us at home anymore. Increasingly, we’re building our working lives around having them with us.

And honestly, we understand.

BRAD PITT, A DOG AND THE ALASKAN WILDERNESS

Brad Pitt’s latest film, Heart of the Beast, sees him stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash with his combat dog, Odin.

Directed by David Ayer, it’s part survival thriller, part story about the relationship between a man and the dog beside him. And while Pitt might be the name on the poster, his canine co-star, Uber, seems to be getting plenty of attention of his own.

It arrives in cinemas later this month.

AND CLOSER TO HOME...

We've also been working on something exciting.

Over the next few months, we’ll be visiting some interesting people and their dogs at home, photographing the spaces they share and talking about work, design, the things they’ve collected over the years and what everyday life together actually looks like.

The idea came from wanting to see a little more of the lives that exist around the dogs we meet. Because there’s usually a story behind the chair they’ve claimed, the objects on the shelves, the work happening at the kitchen table and the person on the other end of the lead.

We visited our first home last week, and came away with a lot of photographs, a very good conversation and quite a lot we want to share.

At Home With is coming soon.
