September's arrived with a bang, along with the cooler weather (thank god) and that back-to-school feeling, despite graduating 20-odd years ago. Here's what's caught my eye as we head into the final quarter of the year.

White Cube at Claydon

White Cube have done an excellent job of choosing art that complements the Claydon House rather than competing with it, which is no mean feat: the house is already a bonkers array of design and knick-knacks. More than twenty artists across the rococo rooms and gardens, Emin, Gormley, Hatoum and Kiefer among them.

It closes on 14 September, so be quick if you've not been.

Open House Festival

London throws open its doors from 12 to 20 September: hundreds of buildings you'd never normally get inside, from private homes to working landmarks. I've been to Tin House by Henning Stummel before and absolutely loved it - gorgeous use of space, modern materials, and a beautifully crafted mishmash of fabrics and textures, objects and furniture old and new. It's opening again this year, as a drop-in on Saturday the 12th.

Glassware, high and low

George at Asda's chunky-stem champagne glasses, and Made's Cally wine glasses with their coloured bases. Neither costs much; both look like they do.

Made x Barbican

A 23-piece homage to the Barbican estate: warm woods, chrome, and a palette of buttermilk, burgundy, olive and dusty blue. Brutalism, softened for the home.

Kelly Wearstler for H&M Home

The LA designer's maximalism at H&M prices, worth a look before the good pieces go.

Two jackets for autumn

Topshop's animal-print wool-blend, and Sezane's Jule in light olive. The Sezane is the grown-up buy; the Topshop is the print hit.

Genevieve Sweeney blanket scarf

Oversized textured merino in rose pink, from the British knitwear label. Substantial enough to justify the name.

Sophie Elizabeth Moore, Indian Summer Swimmer no.2

An original by the Cornish artist, found via Emily Hadley's home gallery. Moore works on bare birch ply and leaves the grain showing, and it's a fitting title for the turn of the season.
